Animasia Studios partners with Kidobi to distribute ABC Monsters Online
Animasia Studios and Kidobi announced yesterday that the Malaysia-based animation studio has granted digital preschool platform Kidobi SVoD rights for the animated preschool series ABC Monsters (22 x 22’) in Canada and the U.S. The educational preschool series will be available to subscribers on Kidobi.com later this spring.
In the series twenty-six cuddly ABC Monsters live within the walls of Capital Castle. The ABC Monsters are wonderfully curious and happy creatures and often wander off from Alphabet Gardens to try new and fun things, invariably getting themselves lost in the process. In each adventure Alice and her good friends Brian and Cherry Berry, must search high and low for one of the missing monsters. Armed with their Magical Dictionary, the three friends follow letter related clues given to them by a host of characters that they meet along the way.
“ABC Monsters presents a spellbinding series of magical adventures that engages preschool children’s imaginations, whilst making learning exciting and entertaining. This makes ABC Monsters an ideal addition to Kidobi’s library”, said Eric Sorenson, Director of Research & Content at Kidobi. “It has an educational component, while at the same time each episode is a great adventure. We think our viewers will love this imaginative program.”
Edmund Chan, CEO of Animasia Studio also commented, “The deal with Kidobi is a great step forward for Malaysians penetrating the new media and online content market. IPTV is an important untapped market and it was timely that our contents now are available on KIDOBI’s platform.”
Mohd Naguib Razak, Director General of FINAS reiterated that he was pleased to see the trends of the Malaysian animation industry grow, where increasingly more and more leading-edge local animation titles are being distributed worldwide.
The agreement announced yesterday builds on several major announcements from both companies in the past weeks. ABC Monsters is the latest in a slew of content acquisitions by Kidobi and Animasia Studio has also recently announced that their animated sports comedy series Bola Kampung will be developed into a feature film to be released at the end of 2012.
Animasia Studio will also be promoting the new animated film Bola Kampung – The Movie at the upcoming MIPTV 2012 during April 1 – 4, 2012 from the Malaysia Pavilion (Stand 05.20).
