'Geng-The Adventure Begins' set to release in India; Ken Films to host a private screening

'Geng-The Adventure Begins' a 3D animated 90 min feature which released in Malayasia in Feb 2009, and had a phenomenal box office in the local market is all set for a mega release in India in Hindi by end of July 2010. Ken Films Pvt Ltd, a new age media company in association with Les' Copaque and IndiaTales Media Pvt Ltd, will be organizing a special private screening of the Malaysian blockbuster: 'Geng-The Adventure Begins', for a special group of audience from within the fraternity on the 24th of June 2010.

Ken Films has spent about 1.1 million USD (Approx INR 5 Crore) to make the movie and bring it this far to India. The movie is set for digital theatrical release in Hindi across India looking in about 400 theatres. The movie is also set to make it to the home video, video on demand, DTH etc after the movie release and would be in Hindi, English and 9 other regional languages.

This 3D Animation Movie from Malaysia which is comparable to any world class product, catapulted its two main protagonists - Upin & Ipin to overnight stardom in the South East of Asia. This is an adventurous story which appeals to both kids and adults. The television series of 'Geng' is also ready with 2 seasons, each of 42 episodes which shall be aired on television after the release of the movie. The movie will make it to the home video market once the television series in on air.

Speaking to Animation Xpress Asia Pacific Ken Films Managing Director Nalin Singh said "We are looking forward to the home video and DTH market for the movie to be a huge success. In Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia where the market is smaller the film sold about hundred thousand copies in two months. We are sure its market will be good here in India as well."

Nalin further added that the licensing and merchandising of the films has been amazing in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia with a lot of toys, apparel and also food outlets in the movie's name. The latest to the list is a theme park.
