Malaysia Prime Minister to visit MIPCOM 2009

KUALA LUMPUR: The Prime Minster of Malaysia Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will lead the MSC Malaysia trade and investment mission to MIPCOM 2009, Cannes, France on October 5.

The mission is aimed at enhancing bilateral economic relations between France and Malaysia, and attracting global creative content companies, as well as the participants of MIPCOM 2009 to explore investment and production opportunities with Malaysia.

There will be a series of high level meetings arranged for the Prime Minister and some key industry players from Europe and US. The discussions will be more of seeking collaborative opportunities in extending growth of Malaysia's creative economy. Malaysia's Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) has also arranged business meetings between Malaysia and leading production companies to identify business opportunities via strategic partnerships.

The continuing participation of MSC Malaysia in MIPCOM is also a part of an initiative under the MSC Malaysia Creative Multimedia Content Initiative (M-CMCI) driven by MDeC. Aimed at attracting entertainment content business, financing and co-production across all platforms, MIPCOM is a key market for MSC Malaysia going global.

Having said MIPCOM as the most dynamic content market place, The Prime Minister will be officiating the MSC Malaysia "Creating Content for the World" initiative and the "Saladin TV Series". This will be followed by an announcement of several success stories concretized between MSC Malaysia Status Companies and international production houses.
