Malaysian Government to bring 27 companies and over 50 properties at HK Filmmart 2011
HKFilmart 2011 will see the attendance of Malaysia’s largest ever delegation, largest Government commitment & support, and over 50 new properties. This year, Malaysia’s National Film Development Corporation (FINAS), Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC), Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (SKMM), Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board (Tourism Malaysia), and newly-established Global Creative and Media Agency (GCMA) have collaborated to bring 27 Malaysian companies and over 50 new properties to the market, which takes place in Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre, Hong Kong.
The Malaysian delegation, comprising of more than 100 participants, will include broadcasters such as RTM, Media Prima, ASTRO and LiTV Asia, and TV/film production companies like KRU Studios, Tayangan Unggul, LineClear Motion Pictures, Sheunik, Asia-Pacific Videolab, Infinite Entertainment, Q-Plex Communication, Redang Digital, FilmPoint, FilmScape, Juita Viden, Juita Entertainment, Young Jump Animation, Animasia Studio, Elite Animation, Glue Studios, Framemotion Studio, Third Rock Creation, Otti Pictures, Quack Concepts, Creative Media Point, Clarify Consulting, and Kuala Lumpur International Film Festival.
A wide variety of exciting new products from films, animations, dramas, documentaries, digital entertainment, edutainment, post production, visual effects, games and mobile contents will be on show at the 90 square meters Malaysia Pavilion during the four-day event from March 21 to 24, located conveniently at the main entrance of the exhibition hall. In the efforts of attracting international TV & film producers & directors to film in beautiful Malaysian jungles, beaches, parks, and cultural landmarks, the Malaysian Pavilion will also be offering free Malaysian white coffee and local snacks to all trade visitors, sponsored by Old Ipoh White Coffee, Hwa Tai, Iko, and Samudra.
Fresh this year will be Malaysia’s GCMA (Global Creative and Media Agency) which has been appointed to facilitate Malaysian digital content promotions and marketing for FINAS, SKMM and MDeC. In the growing interest of Malaysian contents worldwide, the commercially-established agency has been formalized to catalyze and accelerate the growth of Malaysia’s modern entertainment & media industry in the hopes of bringing all the industry blocks in a unified effort between the Government & private sectors. Its main objective is to develop the entertainment & media industry and create strategic market access promotional campaigns that will maximize the economic growth, bridge convergence of media technologies, and promote Malaysia’s contents & services in the area of TV/film, animation, games, mobile, new media, etc. Adam Ham (currently the Executive Director of GCMA), the former Entertainment & Media Specialist of the Malaysian Government Agency – Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) said that GCMA will play a critical role to facilitate market development, PR & media, Government relations and industry development in the efforts of transforming Malaysia into a regional hub for digital content.
