AV8 launches Stereoscopic 3D courses

    Since James Cameron's Avatar hit the screens, Stereoscopic 3D has become an industry buzzword. Hollywood is releasing a slew of 3D productions and the rest of the world is set to do the same.

    AV8 Media is proud to have launched the first dedicated Stereoscopic 3D courses in South East Asia.

    Ian wee, who is currently a Director in Stereoscopic 3D production company, Widescreen Media Pvt Ltd, would be the instructor of the courses. The classes are modular and one sign up for the beginner classes to get a grasp of what's involved, and then decide if you want to pursue more specialised areas in Stereography. Alternatively, you can take the complete program for an intensive learning experience.

    Singaporean Citizens and Permanent Residents will receive 50% subsidy from the MDA (Media Development Authority) for the Stereoscopic 3D courses.

    Widescreen MediaIt is one of the first and only production companies in Asia with the capacity and equipment to shoot live action 3D for feature films, commercials and broadcast.

    As the first movers in the world of HD, he directed one of Singapore's first multi camera HD documentary shoots on the F1 powerboats races. He also directed documentries for the Discovery channel, Channel News Asia, Arts Central, and the National Geographic channel. He is now spearheading the new field of stereoscopic 3D filmmaking in Asia and has completed shooting South East Asia's first live-action Stereoscopic 3D feature film.

    The course is divided into 4 parts and a total of 6 days.

    Part 1 - Principles of Strereoscopic 3D
    A one day course that covers the basics of 3D. This course is recommended for anyone who wants to get to understand how 3D works, and forms the basis of all subsequent courses.

    Part 2 - Through 3D eyes : Shooting in 3D
    This course builds on the principles of Stereoscopic 3D class, and is suitable for any working camera operator who wishes to venture into 3D filmmaking as a cameraman. The duration of the course is 2 days.

    Part 3 - 3D Depth - The Art of Stereography
    A Stereographer sets the depth budget and determines the placing of subjects with the acceptable 3D range. They are also in charge of the depth script which complements traditional story-boards to provide 3D depth and calibrate 3D rigs for picture-perfect convergence points. The duration of the course is 2 days.

    Part 4- Post production for Live action 3D
    This workshop covers everything you need to know to get started in Stereoscopic 3D post production. The focus is on actual demonstrations of what can and cannot be adjusted in post and an understanding of various 3D post production tools currently available. The duration of the course is 1 day.
