DigiPen, Singapore to conduct monthly training and education sessions

Singapore: DigiPen Singapore offering computer simulation, video game development and production animation education will be conducting monthly information sessions to inform and educate parents, students and school counselors about career opportunities in the video game development and animation industry and the types of training and education that one must acquire to enter the industry. The next session will be held on 25th February 2010 and the sessions will continue till August, with one session a month.

Talking to Animation Xpress Asia Pacific, Gabriel Lee, Director of Marketing
DigiPen Institute of Technology, Singapore shared, "The sessions will also include discussions about our continuing education and training courses that are targeted at fresh graduates with relevant degree qualifications or those who are already working in the information technology, engineering, game development and animation fields etc who wish to upgrade their skills or acquire new skills to enter into the game development and animation industry. The main objective of these sessions is to educate attendees about what it takes to succeed in the video game development and animation industry. At the end of each session, we hope attendees will have a better understanding of the industry and the kind of knowledge they need to acquire to pursue a career in this industry."

Sessions will be conducted by the senior faculty members of DigiPen who are involved in developing and teaching the programs. These faculty members have many years of industry experience and have worked for companies such as Nintendo, Disney Animation etc. 50 - 60 students can participate in each of the sessions. Each session will start at 7pm and will be about 1.5 to 2 hours long. The sessions will be held at DigiPen Singapore's Campus at Pixel Building, 10 Central Exchange Green, #01-01 Singapore 138649, (Buona Vista One-North)

These sessions are targeted at parents, school counselors, students who are pursuing their high school education, those working in the video game development and animation industry who wish to upgrade their skills or other working professionals in the information technology, engineering and arts field who wish to make a career switch into the video game and animation industry.
