Backbone Entertainment’s SugarPals now available on Apple Apps Store

Kuala Lumpur based Backbone Entertainment’s SugarPals, a 2D and flash animated series (13 X 23 minutes) is now available on Apple Apps Store for US 0.99. So far there has been around 10,000 downloads already. The series is targeted at the age group of 5-9 years.

SugarPals follows the whacky Gloria Baker, Charlie and the Sugar Pals that he has brought to life. In each episode Charlie will bring a SugarPal to life, which has a distinct look and personality, ranging from the adorable cuteness of Lottie Muffin, to the comically militant attitude of Mousse.

SugarPals are the series heroine, Gloria’s friends. They were initially pastries and sweets and which brought to life by Gloria’s father, Charlie (A Baker-cum-Scientist). Sugar Pals namely are Lottie the strawberry muffin, Mint the Candy, Snap the Cookie, Cheese Gal the Cheese and Mousse the Mousse Cake.

45 animators have worked on the series for 15 months. The series is produced by Mervin and Evelyn Lee is the Executive Producer. Arnold is the Creative Director and Ismail worked as the Technical Director.

Talking to Animation Xpress Asia Pacific about the choice of Apple Apps Store Evelyn Lee, Managing Director, Backbone Entertainment said, “We decided Apple Apps Store as the audience is wider and bigger compare to other platforms”.

Backbone’s next 2 titles to be uploaded on Apple Apps Store will be Garr and Beanos.
