Eden Animation and Sieun Design to co-produce Banana Shake

KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur based Eden animation is working on a co-production for a 2D TV series Banana Shake with Korea based company, Sieun Design. The series is a 42 x 11 mins, flash animated series targeted at age group 8 to 14 years.

Speaking to Animation Xpress Asia Pacific, Ken Yuen, Director, Eden Animation commented, "The project has already been pre-sold to KBS. (Korean Broadcasting System is South Korea's premier public broadcaster and the biggest one of three major Korean television networks.) This deal between the 2 companies was done at MIPTV last year."

Ken further shared that the story boarding and pre production has been jointly done at both the studios in Malaysia and Korea, while the entire production will be done at Eden Animation.

The entire pre production was done by 4 artists, and currently 12 artists are working on the production. Currently two episodes of the series are completed and the studio is working on the third one.

With over 8 years of experience as an artist, Ken Yuen who is a character designing and story boarding expert is now the animation entreprenuer where he is cracking deals and creating products for the global market. He is an alumnus from The One Academy in KL and still maintains a close bond with his Alma Mater.

Regarding Eden animation's expansion plans, Ken shares that they plan to ramp up to about 30 artists in the next few months. "We have no plans of cost cutting by opening satellite studios in China or elsewhere and want to work with the local talent" he shared.

Talking about other projects at Eden Animation, he shared, "Journey to the East series is currently on script revision stage and concept development. Dream catcher, we have started working on a "Epilogue" comic book. It will finish by Mid July and Eden Animation will be the publisher. Comic books will be in English subtitles. After market test if we have a big hit, we will focus on Hong Kong and Japan comic market. Afterwards if this product is really successful, we will develop a 26 episodes animation in Anime styl
