Malaysia's Triple Q Innovation in development of 3D TV series, 'Perakboy'

Triple Q Innovation Sdn Bhd, Malaysia is developing a 3D animated series called Perakboy in a joint collaboration with KPerak Inc. KPerak's main roles are to advise the State Government of Perak on policies to develop MSC Malaysia practices, multimedia operations and to support companies located in the area as well as promoting MSC Malaysia Cybercentre @ Meru Raya at local and global level. Kperak provides financial assistance and also handles the promotion of the property. However, the IP is completely owned by Triple Q Innovation.

Perakboy is based on science fiction. Hilal Azman (actor/director in Malaysia) is a storywriter with the original story/concept by Kamaruzaman Jahidin. It is a 26 episodes TV series (23 mins/ episodes) in HD/ DVD format and Triple Q Innovation Sdn Bhd has currently completed 75% production of episode 1.

Talking to Animation Xpress Asia Pacific Kamaruzaman Jahidin, story writer, Perakboy says, “Perak means Silver in English. Ashraf (the protagonist in the series) drown in a pool containing silver mixture in Professor Kaloot Robotic Lab. In late 1950's, Perak state in Malaysia was well known as silver producer in Malaysia and in the world. Almost all the scenes/background in the series is taken from all over places in Perak. At the moment, we have 10 people- 3 animators, 1 concept artist, 1 textures artist, 2 modelers, 1 storyboard writer, 1 scriptwriter, 1 compositor. And we are planning to increase the numbers in next month”.

Triple Q Innovation is targeting to complete 2 episodes in 3 months. And the total projects of 26 episodes will be ended in late 2012. Kamaruzaman says, “We are planning to broadcast it in 2nd half of 2011 (June onwards). At the moment, two broadcast channels in Malaysia have shown their interest in Perakboy”.

Triple Q Innovation Sdn Bhd is a brand new company focused on 3D animation, modelling, Special Effects and 3D training. Triple Q Innovation was established in June 2011 and has done 3D video corporate, training and 3D animation clips. Perakboy is their first 3D animation series using 3D open source software called Blender.

Triple Q Innovation is planning next a CGI telemovie about an alien and a little girl.
